According to Gartner, “By 2026, organizations that invest in digital shelf analytics applications to replace manual data-gathering techniques will see their costs reduced by 30% annually.”
Manual monitoring of the digital shelf is costly and ineffective. DSA solves brands’ challenges of tracking and optimizing product listings across dozens—sometimes hundreds—of online channels.
Key Findings from the 2022 Gartner Market Guide for Digital Shelf Analytics:
- An accurate picture of product performance on the digital shelf helps to improve product findability, product content accuracy, conversion rates and understanding of competitors’ products and strategies.
- Demand for digital shelf analytics (DSA) applications is growing as brands and manufacturers expand their efforts to sell online and explore new channels. In some cases, manual efforts to monitor the digital shelf are cost-prohibitive and not actionable.
- Vendors approach the DSA market from different angles, with diverse product offerings that often include other product experience management applications.
- Vendors offer varying abilities to integrate with other applications that are vital for closed-loop analysis and action. Although the ability for DSA to deliver actionable insight has been widely adopted, simple execution of actions is still relatively nascent.
The Market Guide states that, “Digital shelf analytics applications provide brands and manufacturers with data from nonowner digital channels where their products are sold, such as online marketplaces and third-party retailers’ digital commerce sites.” The report further mentions, “After gathering data, DSA applications typically offer dashboards to their clients to provide insight into product performance and suggested changes, such as product description changes, keyword modifications or content additions. Data scraped from digital channels can be combined with other data sources to provide insight.”
