The challenge

Vertiv, a global leader in critical digital infrastructure, faced a challenge with its product data. Operating in 130 countries with localized content in 22 languages, the company managed thousands of highly configurable products across direct, indirect, and digital commerce channels. Each required precise, timely, and localized information—a task that had grown increasingly complex as Vertiv expanded. 

“We operate in more than 130 countries with a portfolio of highly configurable products, solutions, and services. We need to sell directly, through indirect channels, and through digital commerce channels. Our products are localized in more than 22 languages, and it was critical to have a way to push them to market in a timely manner,” said Alexandru Radavoi, Global Director, Digital Commerce and Digital Product Catalog at Vertiv. 

Disconnected systems slowed everything down. Manual updates created bottlenecks between engineering, marketing, and sales, and inconsistent data led to channel errors. Vertiv needed to unify its product information, automate enrichment, and ensure global accuracy. 

The solution 

Vertiv chose Inriver to bring structure and control to its global product data. “We selected Inriver because we wanted a PIM solution that can keep up with our complexity, and that can help us to scale globally,” Radavoi explained. “One of the expected benefits was the ability to have one single source of truth for product content.” 

 “We wanted a solution that could be connected with our PLM and ERP so we can feed Inriver with the data directly from the engineering team,” Radavoi said. “Then within the platform, it’s critical to be able to work with the data to enrich it and optimize it for each downstream channel.” 

Inriver’s flexible data model handled the company’s complex product relationships, while its AI-powered enrichment automated tasks once done manually. 

“For us, AI is no longer a strategy—it’s already embedded in our daily workflows,” Radavoi noted. “We use AI to label all our product metadata, enrich the product specifications, and create product content for pretty much all the downstream channels. AI helps us to personalize the content for each persona, each market, and each channel.” 

Inriver’s syndication capabilities allow Vertiv to publish product data once and distribute it everywhere—across marketplaces and partner portals worldwide. 

“The syndication features from Inriver help us create once and then publish everywhere,” Radavoi said. “Another key driver was channel readiness—because with Inriver, we can push data to both our B2B partners and our digital commerce channels.” 

Today, Vertiv manages consistent, enriched product information across platforms such as Amazon, Shopee, Lazada, and Alibaba. 

“What I like about Inriver is the fact that it’s built for structure and action,” Radavoi added. “With the structure, you can have great data-model elasticity—you can really make it work for your business model. But more than that, you can make it actionable because you can really push the data where it matters.” 

The result 

Inriver became Vertiv’s backbone for product data—driving accuracy, speed, and control across every channel. The transformation at Vertiv was immediate and measurable. 

“Since we implemented Inriver, we’ve seen really measurable results,” Radavoi said. “Our time to market decreased consistently. Our manual work was reduced dramatically.
