Black Box organizes and extends product information with inRiver

Black Box is a leading technology solution provider dedicated to helping customers build, manage, optimize, and secure their IT infrastructure. Black Box delivers high value products and services through its global presence with 4,000 team members in 200 offices serving 150 countries.

Challenge

Black Box could not quickly, efficiently, and accurately deliver product content to internal and external customers/channels in a sustainable way. They needed to manage taxonomy by integrating with legacy systems and this was becoming increasingly cumbersome. They had more than 40,000 SKUs that needed to be managed easily and duplicate or redundant work had to be eliminated.

Solution

Black Box selected inRiver to easily incorporate product information from 40,000 SKUs and integrate this product data with their website content management system and their enterprise ERP solution. The integrated ecosystem made it easy for them to extend product information to their extended network, allowing partners to build and deploy connectors through a supplier portal.

Result

The new system provides 24 country variations with localized content that can be used throughout the enterprise. Overall, the company cut costs by reducing 6 data supply chain applications to 3. The move to inRiver has helped the company cut time for supply chain processes by 80%.
