17 Sep 2019

PIMpoint Americas 2019 is almost here and we can hardly wait! While you’re in Chicago for the product information management (PIM) event of the season, why not check out some of our favorite things to do and sites to see.

Check out ten of inRiver’s favorite spots below:

10.  Millennium Park: Stretching just under 25 acres, Millennium Park is a beautiful outdoor space, know as the front lawn of downtown Chicago. Millennium Park offers free admission along with a variety of activities inside the park, like concerts and cultural events in the outdoor pavilion, a beautiful urban garden, perfect for afternoon strolls, and plenty of food and drink to go around, not to mention it’s home to one of Chicago’s most famous attractions, the bean!

9.  Willis Tower: Standing at 110 stories or 1,450 feet, the Willis Tower is the second tallest building in North America and the 12th tallest in the world. When visiting this magnificent skyscraper, be sure to take a trip to the 103rd floor to visit the Sky Deck, Willis Tower’s observation deck. Take a peek at the 50 mile, 360-degree view of not only beautiful Chicago, but sites into Michigan, Indiana, Wisconsin and the rest of Illinois as well.

8. Get a taste for real Chicago Pizza: Get yourself a slice of the famous Chicago Style Deep Dish Pizza, or five! Hop on your very own guided tour of Chicago’s pizza legacy, stopping at four different pizzerias throughout some of Chicago’s most famous neighborhoods, all while learning about and eating Chicago’s favorite pizza.

7. Art Institute of Chicago: Chicago’s very own Art Institute of Chicago has been named the best museum in the world by TripAdvisor, and lucky for you, it’s right in our backyard. With over 300,000 works of art spanning 5,000 years across human history, you’re sure to find a piece that speaks to you.

6. Navy Pier: As one of the destinations to visit in the Midwest, Navy Pier has something for everyone. Whether it is hoping on the water taxi for a quick ride around the city, grabbing a bite to eat at one of the many restaurants, or taking a ride on the infamous Ferris Wheel, there is never a dull moment. The pier is also home to the Chicago Children’s’ Museum, a great spot to explore for younger visitors.

5. Chicago Style Hot Dog: Believe it or not, there are over 2,000 hot dog stands strewn about the city of Chicago. That’s more than the amount of Burger Kings, McDonald’s and Wendy’s restaurants in the city combined! Be sure to grab a dog while you’re visiting, just remember to leave your ketchup at home!

4. Take me out to the ballgame: There’s nothing like a little September baseball! Catch a game at one of Chicago’s two state of the art major league baseball stadiums and root for the home team! View the Cubs schedule here and the White Sox schedule here.

3. Field Museum: the Field Museum of Natural History is one of the world’s largest natural history museums and has been internationally recognized for its vast array of exhibits. The museum is also home to Sue, the world’s most completed T-Rex skeleton. She stands 13 feet tall and estimated to be just about 67 million years old!

2. Take a bike trip on Chicago’s Lakefront Trail: The lakefront trail is beautiful every time of year but there’s just something so peaceful about watching those gorgeous red leaves fall as you look out over Lake Michigan. This 19-mile trail gives you a new way to site see in Chicago with its path traveling through Lincoln Park Zoo, Grant Park, Navy Pier, and more.

1. PIMpoint Americas 2019: Of course the number one site to see in Chicago this fall is PIMpoint Americas. This premier product information management conference is the only one of its kind in North America and is one you most certainly are not going to want to miss.
